8:30 am
Sterling, MA
70-90 riders
48 degrees and overcast
40 miles= 8 mile loop with steep and short uphill finish.

I came out today looking to either help my teammate Michael or kill myself... preferably both.

Basically I had the best legs of the season and the cool weather kept cramping to near nonexistence.

I attacked a lot and got in as many breaks as I could, then attacked more until I tasted breakfast. Then I got caught and attacked again. this wen on for most of the race.

With 4 miles to go, Michael found my wheel and I switched into domestique mode. Mike stayed on my wheel nearly till the end, but as a few teams started launching some pre-hill leadouts, he got pushed off my wheel as I drifted back to 8th wheel or so. Coming into the last steep sharp right hand turn to the finish I felt great. I attacked hard opening a gap. I sat down and kept pounding with the kill-myself mantra sounding strongly. I soon saw wheels on my sides and with 100 steep meters to go and lactic acid knocking loudly I stood and gave everything I had. With the most intense burn in my legs ever, I crossed the line 1/2 a bike infront of all other bikes taking the W. The win was nice, but more importantly I had succeeded in killing myself.
If my report lacks detail, it's because I was so f-ed up most of the race that I dont remember much.

I'll turn in my palmares this week.

Great race MMRC!!! Fun course!

Hey man, just getting to read this. Great job out there. You definitely controlled the race. We actually had a guy on your wheel for the final push, but he couldn't keep up! (I ended DNF'ing :(.)

Anyways, congratulations on another win. Didn't you start the season with a win too? Like I mentioned before the race started, you're a class act and we're all going to miss racing with you. Best of luck to you in the next category. :thumb:
