I'm building up a Salsa Casseroll, and the frame has bosses for installing a downtube shifter, but not for using brifters (and the derailleur cable housing that goes with them). Is there someplace I can order something aftermarket that will install over the downtube shifter bosses? And what are these called (so I can search for them)?

I don't know the "official" name. I jus' call 'em downtube cable stops.

If you buy a new set of Shimano "brifters" in a box, the stops come as part of the kit along with the cables, housings and the under bottom bracket cable guide.

At least this was true through new 9 speed sets. I cannot confirm what comes with 10 speed.

Thanks, all! I found some at the Loose screws website. They're indeed called "downtube cable stops."

I bought my brifters used on ebay, so I didn't get any extra bts. For awhile I was eyeing my DH's downtube shifters, wondering if I could get away with cannibalizing his bike...my cooler head prevailed, though.:lol:

Loose screws has 2 diffrent models so make sure you get the correct ones.

I suppose I should have gotten the 1 1/8 radiussed ones, but it looks like I can use these, too.

You can see a black plastic piece between the frame and new down tube stop that black piece is from the original shifters if you have the smaller 1 1/8 down tube the ones designed for the smaller 1 1/8 down tube is contoured to fit the curve better, but you should be OK.
