Commuting - Cheap Coolmax "jerseys" at Costco (Canada)

I just came back from Costco, where I found a table piled with Coolmax shirts for $15. They have a stand collar, half zip, longer cut back, and a zip pocket at the rear hem. They aren't labeled as bike jerseys but they sure as heck look close enough to me! The fit would be a little looser than most jerseys, but definitely closer than a t-shirt. Good enough for me!

These were in with the men's clothing (thought I'd clarify there ;)), and they had Small up to 2XL. Colours were pretty bright - blue, green, red, with black sleeves; also some grey w/black sleeves and all-black, but unless you are a ninja cyclist, those might not be too useful.

Thought I'd pass it along in case there were Canadian Costco members here... The Boy has had shirts of this brand before and they stand up really well. Be warned that they do get pretty niffy if you don't wash them immediately, though.

I have bought several of the coolmax t-shirts and sleeveless ts from costco and have been happy with all of them. The quality is good and the price is excellent. I will have to go and check these new additions out!

Damn, I went there 2 days ago and didn't even pay attention to the cloth section. I did notice that they have pretty cheap hydration pack though. Thanks for the info. I will definitely check it out this weekend. :)

I am going to stop by my local Costco and see if they carry them as well. I will report back.

Did you check out the $1,500 full carbon (shimano 105) road bikes they're crarrying now? Didn't recognize the name on the frame though.

I looked at that last time I was in. I don't know much about carbon, though, and it's way out of my price range :). I saw that they had a decent Bell helmet, a kid-trailer, and the hydration packs though.

I wore my new shirt for a ride today and am seriously considering going back for a couple more. It's really comfy, the collar sits just right (some of my jerseys have an edge to the zip that bugs me), and I like that it is longer than most of the women's size jerseys.

My wife has stocked me up with a few of those shirts over the past couple of years and I wear them for commuting, saving the jerseys for the longer rides. One thing I have noticed is that after washing, they don't dry out nearly as quickly as my jerseys and shorts. YMMV.

I looked at two Costcos north of Seattle: they did not stock this Coolmax shirt.

It may just be the Canadian ones. Or only certain stores. But I know Costco Canada often stocks quite different things than the US ones, so that's probably it.

Costco in Ottawa on Merivale had half a table full, I picked up a green one. Pretty good for the price but I will save my full judgement for after I ride with it. It has a smalll pocket in the rear and a 1/3 zip up collar. The only real difference between this and a "real" bike jersey is the front and back are the same length instead of the back being longer.

Thanks for the heads-up. My wife picked up a couple for me (Richmond BC) and said there were plenty in stock. Wore one for the ride in today...nice.
