entering my first race ever. im in a club that has their own rr but its a friendly rr not a real one. i tt well but have some trouble in the rr. tt i have won and came in 2nd 13 seconds behind a cat 2 rider. but, in the rr im not as good. i have a tendancy to take longer pulls than i should, am not as tight in turns as the rest of the pace line, have a tendency to shoot out of the pace line on climbs, and when i take the lead.

is this stuff going to heavily affect me in the crit im doing? know the turning will be a problem but is there a paceline thing going or does it move as a group? if i have a lot of energy toawrds the last few laps and know the going much slower than what im capable of should i break away???

Sounds like your talking about crits more than road races.

edit: sorry contacts are dry and didn't read that right. You'll be fine, just try it first then worry about improving. Practice turning in a parking lot or something.

Don't worry about winning your first race. The most important things for you is to learn to race safe. Be super aware of what is going on around you and finish upright.

My first race (last month) scared the crap out of me, until I actually started the race.

Have fun!
