Commuting - flick stand?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey, I just saw a nifty device - a flick stand - attached to a downtube then switches against the front tire to keep it from spinning... anyone seen these things? Know where to get one??
I had one years ago, it worked great. It has been a long time since I seen them offered anywhere though.

Rhode Gear makes them. I haven't found a source yet. When I do, I'll post

Write that in past tense. Rhode Gear made them. I think the diversification of the bike market with mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrids, carbon fibre bikes, aluminium bikes, etc. made it hard to design a downtube mount compatible with most bikes. Add to that the almost-bankrupty and reorganisation of Bell in 2001 and you see a product that went down the drain.
Robertsdvd,
On 4/9/04, the shop below had 6(?) Flick Stands for sale in their close-outs bin. I didn't pay attention to prices or sizes since I already have them on my bikes. Maybe they'll do mail orders.

They're not my LBS. I was passing through from Ottawa to Indiana.

Hey Roberts, my '79 road bike came with a flick stand. Couldn't figure out what use it was so I took it off. I think I kept it in my box-o-bike-bits. We're in the same town (I'm in Teele Sq), so if you want to try it on yer bike let me know.

I reckon my use of fenders precludes me from using flick stands... that's ok because fenders are sexy and flick stands are just gizmo....otic... gizmotic... uhh.. neat.

You can achieve the same result with an elastic band. Spin the front wheel till the valve is near the downtube. Hook one end of the band around the valve, stretch the band around the downtube, and loop the other end over the valve.
