London Mod or not?

How many of you run Odyssey's London Mod? And if you do, is it any better than the conventional gyro set up?

Cool. I was thinking about it. I've run a dual cable before and it was a little too strong. I was just wondering how the London Mod fared.

Thats all you'll need, it's a setup that has been working for thousands of people for years and years.

I had a london mod for many years. The best thing about gyro's, for me, isn't the fact that you can spin the bars an infinite number of times, its the adjustability. If you're grinding and your back wheel moves and your brakes are rubbing, single cable you're screwed. London mod, you can just screw one arm out a little bit and limp home.

I would switch the slic cable to a Linear Cable and leave it at that.

Ody Slic Cable uses coiled housing, just like any basic cable. Has been since they introduced it in 198whatever.

Slic cable will bind & lock your brakes up (unless you run it long enough). You can run the linear shorter & still spin the bars at least 3 times without binding.

You don't have to explain to me what linear means.
If you look carefully at the image of the linear version, it still says "slic kable" on the actual cable itself.
Dan's comp may not say it, but it is still an odyssey slic, just the linear version.

Well to be beyond picky, it says Odyssey Linear Slic Cable on the cable (at least all the ones I have do).
And if I asked for a Slic cable, I would not expect a linear cable.
But it's really no big deal. Just in a stupid mood to debate meaningless things.

Also, if I asked for a slic kable (in respectable bike store), I wouldn't expect anything less than a linear.

Well they're both called slic kables, just one is linear and one isn't.
I honestly don't know why good companies even make non-linear cables anymore.

I've been on here for awhile, and I don't know what linear means. So what's the difference between a regular and linear cable? All that I know is you can run a linear cable without it binding for the most part.

If you do (for example) a barspin using a non-linear cable, once it has spun around, the cable's braking power will be gone, you have to spin the bars back around if you want to use brakes again.
Doing the same thing, but using a linear cable will have no such effect, you can continue riding and your braking power will remain the same.

If you do decide to run a gyro, a london mod is the way to go.

Adjustably for both brake arms and lower friction makes it worthwhile. Ignore what other people say about brakes and do what you want.
