just bought a 531 frame without forks. Building a fixed bike, anyone have any thoughts on what forks i should be, or are there any i should be avoiding, bit of a novice im afraid.

Also is it easy to get the braze-ons off a bike and fill in any holes or should i get it done professionally. Where in London could this be done.

Any responses and i will be v. grateful!

You might try Bikeradar for this one; more UK based.
I'd try finding VAZ refinishing. They'd do the work for you. Alternatively, you could try a frame builder like Roberts, Witcomb or Dave Yates (he's not in London, but not too far away). As for forks, many shops will have the KF essentials or similar fork. It's ok. They might have a stack of steel forks that have been swapped for carbon ones too.

You could get a carbon one also, if that floats your boat.

some bikes are sold this way. see bianchi website. the drawback is only in the appearance, ie: thicker fork thinner frame tubes

I don't think they are worth the extra money unless you spend a lot. Steel forks can be sublime :) Also, chrome rocks!

You could even run aluminium forks. I would not recommend them though... typically thought of as light and harsh.
