I am in the process of trying to turn a mid 90s ricochet into a fixed gear. This is my first real bike project and I keep running into hella problems. I'm trying to do this with little to no money because the bike worked just fine when I started the project, and I'd hate to spend a lot just to figure out if I actually like fixed gears or not. My rear wheel has a freehub, which I understand is different from a freewheel, and as such I think I'll need to buy at least a rear cog and a bunch of spacers, but I don't know how to keep the hub from rotating when I stop pedaling. I guess I could just do a SS, but if I wanted that I could just stop shifting. My other big problem is vertical dropouts. I think I might just be better off cleaning and replacing everything I removed and selling the bike to invest in a road bike to convert or just taking the money to the bar and investing in a few pitchers and a couple tacos. Let me know your input.
