IMO tikit is slightly undergeard so capreo hub/cassette is good upgrade. I'm not sure tikit can take FD though (One of my mate used SRAM dualdrive hub instead).

What you should do is check the rear wheel spoke count, get matching capreo hub and cassette (And 9 speed shimano shifter too), go to kind LBS to rebuild rear wheel and shifter.

Working on the SCOOMA's (16") gearing right now. It has a 126mm flip flop hub, and I really would like to put Capreos on...

but...

I hear Capreo hubs are specific to capreo der, and are only 135mm hubs... now the bike frame is steel... thinking about trying to hack fit it in...

any comments... anyone tried this?... need help from capreo experts, don't know much about this groupset...

You can use virtually any rear mech instead of a Capreo without a noticeable difference in shifting quality.

My wife has a Crusoe Petite with full 105 except the Capreo hub and cassette. Two years old now and she is currently in France with it. Uses a bar end shifter (Ultegra 9 speed) and has had zero problems with it. Roger

I am running a Capreo rear with full SRAM Rival + Jtek shiftmate on my BF Pocket rocket. Shifts just fine.

Thanks everyone... I'm after the capreo's cassette for the gearing... the hubs I don't care much about just so long as they fit, and they retain an okay chainline... I have several RD available to fit on...

You can spin the tikit at some 25 mph, how is that undergeared for a folding bike? How often do you need to pedal this type of bicycle that fast?

Doesn't that depend how you use it? Some use their folders for multi-mode commuting, but others use them as a bike that's easy to transport to where they want a fast road ride. If you want it higher geared, why not?

FWIW, I can spin my 451 tired BF to about 30mph with a standard chainring combo (53/39) and an 11-23 cassette. The 16" wheels will make quite a difference, though, so I can see the Capreo being necessary on a small tired bike.

I don't think people realize what the current gearing allows them to reach, if they can change their "body" a little bit by spinning faster. By going capreo and going from 32 in rear to 26, one also looses the ability to go up hills.. which is more often important in folding applications. Going slow up hills is better than pedalling faster than 25mph. Most people here aren't even capable of pedaling on flats at 25 mph for any length of time, so marginal benefits for the descents of saving a little bit of time.

That is why I went COMPACT CRANK baby. Best of both worlds. (50/34). The ability to use standard chainrings and make our own decisions to gearing is what the Capreo is all about. (and yes, I still spin out at about 35-40mph instead of 50 now, oh well.) Keep in mind that front derailleur differences will be much more under control.
