Punched in the numbers from yesterday's commute, I am shy of 4000 miles on the year by .63 mile. Not spectacular, but I've enjoyed every one of those miles. Anyone else keeping track of miles? Did you meet your goals? Did you set any goals? Are you going to for 04?

Are you counting only commute miles?

I'm going to hit 5000 miles for '03 if the weather holds but that includes training, race, and just for fun miles.

To date for 2003, 14863 miles, strted 1/1/03, will do about 15,300 for the year. Boy am I hungry

Mr. Fix, you are a cycling nut.

I broke my odometer, but I usually average about 4,000 mpy.

Well, I can't compare to you guys but I expect to hit my goal of 2500 miles for the year. Right now, I'm at about 2484 - almost all commuting miles. The weather has gotten crappy up here but I'm still riding around one day a week.

Next year my goal will be 3000 miles.

Since June (when I started keeping track) I've got 1600 miles. Just estimating, but I'm probably close to 2500 miles on the year. Next year my goal is ~4000 miles.

I started keeping track at the end of July and have around 600 miles so far this year. I had no goals set. Next year is a different story!

I had about 2700 when I was playing around with my computer 2 months ago and accidentally reset it. Averaging out my commute and weekend riding, I figure about 3500 this year. I'll have a goal of 4000 for next year, and try to leave the computer alone.

Don't really keep track. However, at 10 miles per round trip, 5 days a week, that is 50 miles per week, or about 2,500 miles per year.

2709mi/4334km so far this year. Realistically figureing in that I will lose a week before Christmas it will be hard for me to reach my goal of 3000 miles. Maybe next year.

A little over 3400 so far. Hoping for a couple hundred more.

In the 12 months that I have had the bike (end of November) I did about 8,600km on my road bike alone, plus a few hundreds on my MTB commuter! As of Jan 1st I will reset my computer and I am hoping for 12,000km+ on the road bike in 2004.

I was aiming for around 10,000km but will fall 1000km short due to going on holidays for 3 weeks and some terrible stretches of bad weather. 8,476km at the moment but should get to 9,000km by the end of the year. Last year was 7,200km so I am ahead already.

Two years ago I was 30 pounds heavier and I started riding. Last year I set a goal of 1000 miles, and did 1043. This year my odometer died around 4000 back in September. My car should be so lucky...

Cyclometer passed 2,025 miles yesterady. I just returned to cycling in May after 10+ years out of the saddle. Did not even have a working cyclometer until June.

Goal for 2004 ... 4,000 miles.

Just short of 4800 miles at the moment. If I manage to get 4 commutes a week this week and next, will break 5K for the year, but icy this morning so didn't commute today.

lets hope the weather improves!!

Started riding again after a couple year layoff in mid September, 6 miles was my first ride  , 1300 since then, weight dropped from 214 to 195 this morning. :D
6000 is my goal for '04 with at least one double century.
My commute is only 4 mi each way, so I try to stretch it to 15.

5,650 miles so far, give or take a mile or two,

Hoping to reach 6,000 mles for the year, should make it as my friend is organising a trip between the Xmas and New year of the Reivers way, 191 miles distance, coast to coast, so that should boost me towards my final goal....

I am close to 4700kms so far, but I start counting from spring when I first ride on my summer bike. I think I started this season in March (don't have the logbook with me). So I expect to reach 5500-6000 kms. My mileage drops drastically during the darkest, coldest winter months.

I don't really have targets, but it is fun to watch the kilometres accumulate...

About 5200 miles on the road bike and 2200 on the commuter for a total of 7400. About 600 less than last year, but I still have a couple of weeks left to close the gap. Bad weather is absolutely killing December!

I'm at about 7250 miles for 2003 (so far), quite a few miles of which were commuting miles. I've beat my 2003 goal by quite a bit.

My goal for 2004 is 12000 kms.

Looks like about 2600 miles this year, bursitis in my hip kept me off my bike during July & August. If I stay healthy, should be back up somewhere around 4000 next year. Don

I cracked 9822 miles for the year today.

My original goa was 9000 miles... Now it looks like I'll break 10,000.

I also did 29 rides of 100 miles or greater. I want to do one more century to make it an even 30.

On this list are the following rides:
185 miles in one day followed by a 101 mile century (bonked on the century)
The following 160+ mile rides:
Bike Across Florida 162 miles in 7 hours 30 minutes (5th place)
Lauderdale to Naples with a friend of mine... 163 miles
Lauderdale to Mt Dora in two days... 165 miles followed by 101 miles followed by 50+ 55+ and 60+ festival rides.
Two training rides of 130+ mles
142 mile solo ride in 9 hours (100 miles into headwind) followed by 105 mile century (came in 3rd).
Several assorted century "events" and personal centuries...

Hey look at http://www.bikejournal.com I just found out about it and plan to use it to log my rides for next year!

You too! I'm at 29 centuries for 2003 now including a Super Randonneur series, 1 century (or more) per month, a whole pile of training rides, and the Paris-Brest-Paris 1200K.

Have you considered getting into Randonneuring?

I'm a piker next to you guys. I did a thousand miles this year. I want to double that figure next year.

Well, I am over 4K now. I punched in the numbers again and figured out that if I ride everyday I work to and from work I will break 4500 for the year. What got me is realizing that if I ride every day I work next year, at 230 a week I could easily crack 12,000 miles. That isn't counting my centuries that I plan to ride.

So, for Christmas I'm giving myself 4500 miles. Should be easy with the weather warming up here, suppose to be back in the 40s, and rain on Sunday. Where did winter go?

I may hit 7600, cause I need a December century for the century a month club. Thinking of Monday as the day for that.

I have around 5500 miles in so far this year. probably 80% of that is commuting. I will probably do around that next year although it would be nice to have the time to do more! I'd ride both ways everyday if I had the time but more often than not I end up getting a ride home.

I have about 1,400 miles this year. I was hoping to reach 2,000, but I had carpal tunnel operations on both hands, which knocked me off the bike for about 6 weeks. I'm hoping to reach at least 2,000 in 2004.

There is no way to reach my goal of 4500 in the last few days of '03. I've managed to make a bunch of cash working doubles, but this has also eaten into the miles/commuting I could've done. Another problem the hub I planned to use for the ride, has a busted spoke that I will attempt to remedy before heading out.

I will have Tuesday free, so I am thinking of making an attempt at a century to assure my success at breaking 4500 miles in '03

I managed 3,004 commute miles. One more round trip (108) than I did in 2002 which is about 70% of the days I actually went to the office. Not too bad considering I worked an average of 65 hours a week January through April.

I just decided on a goal of 150 round trips for next year. A quick spreadsheet tells me I should have 173 commute opportunities next year. 87% sounds reasonable for an old f*rt like me.

Well, I was doing an average of 5,000 miles a year for the last 7 years, but this year I only got in 3,609 and unlikely to get any more in. It was a busy year and now energy is focused on moving.

My original goal was 9000 miles...

Monday I broke 10,000 miles...

Yesterday I capped of an extra 32 miles to give me 10,034 miles for the year.

That includes 30 rides of 100 miles/day or more...

Longest ride 185 miles (shucks 4 miles shy of 300k)
Three rides of 160-165 miles
three rides of 130-132 miles (last one was this Monday)

The 185, 165 and 142 rides were followed by a 101 and 102, and 105 mile "century event" tne next day

My resolution for next year is to not make 9000 miles my goal :)

It's good to see this topic alive in every forum  but since I primarily hang here I'll add to the fray:

Goal for 2003: 2000 miles
Miles ridden: 2732 miles.

Goal for 2004: 3000 miles

I began commuting this year on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day) and commuted though today (New Years Eve). Glancing over my log it looks like I averaged about 3.5 days out of 5 when you take in account vacations weeks, skipped days, etc. In 2004 I intend to commute from Jan 1st -> Dec. 31st and to try to up the percentage to a solid 4 out of 5 or 4.5 out of 5.

Happy New Year Everybody

OK, as the year finished, my total was 13,431 km = 8,394 miles. 4,300 km of that was a trip across Australia - so couldn't really count that as a commute ! But I did do most of the weekday miles as commute miles.

Anyways my target for the year was 10,000km so I hit that quite well. My target for '04 will be 10,000km again, but without a really big ride planned I'm not sure how close I can get.

If anyone wants to checkout photos from our trip Perth to Hobart, have a squiz at http://bikeforbibles.org/calendar.html, I put about 120 of the best ones up there.

I have a new OCLV bike (since Christmas) so am looking forward to some very comfy k's this year.
