Yes, I'll have a large bag of self loathing; and a large side of self-induced suckness, thanks.
Question for the forum: how much suckage is it if I can't even get to the front of a Tuesday night B race to contest the sprint?

Probably more of a tactics limiter than fitness. What happened?

Meh you're probably right. It was a slow race all night and I just got swamped then boxed and next thing ya know I'm 25 back and 2 corners from the finish.
I just felt like having a pity party, since I don't have carbon wheels or a Jr sponsorship.

I've always thought the slower races were harder. The surges can get to you.

I think it took me 2 solid years before I could finish a B race with the group. Guys that were...um...fat routinely kicked my culo. It was well into the third year that I could show up and feel pretty decent about finishing all the races with the group.
I can still remember the revelation I had when I realized how pedaling through a corner saved me from getting dropped.
Two bits of advice:
Expect to Suck: just admit it. For 2 years, while you learn how to handle your engine, you are going to suck.
It Takes 5 Years. My racing guru told me long ago it takes 5 years of solid racing to get to a level where you're decent. Through experience I've found this to be accurate.
Don't quit.

Yah thanks for the encouragement, but I started racing in 1982. Suckage is forever; it renews itself each winter.

it renews itself each winter.
Well there's your problem. Do you stop training completely over the winter?
