Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am working on a project for school. My partner and I are considering designing a device that keeps your head cool as well as provides a source of drinking water. It was a backpack with a tube that runs through a bicycle helmet around your head for cooling. The cold water can also be used for drinking water. We haven't worked out the specifics yet, but those are the basic points. Not being an avid biker, I'm not sure its something that would be widely accepted. If possible, I'd like input on this idea. Also, if you could answer a few questions, I'd appreciate it greatly.

How much would you spend on something like this?
Thank you.

No.

Nothing.
Cyclists spend a lot of money on lightweight helmets. Anything that limits the movement of their head while adding weight will not be popular. Besides, moving air works pretty good at removing heat. Water tubing will work more as an insulator than anything.
If you want to cool a cyclist think "evaporative cooling".

i dont think it would keep the water cool. your head would heat the water up, so it would be like drinking your own sweat...or pee

This is a joke ,
right?
If not then my answer is that it would be a hard sell. Don't make too many of them so you won't have to have a yard sale to give them all away later.
