I'm looking for a fast,light tire for my mtn.bike.I had Tioga City Slickers years ago and liked them.
My list is Conti.Grand Prixs,Tioga City Slickers,Ritchey Tom Slicks and Bontrager Road Warriors.Specialized makes some slicks too but I haven't checked them out yet.All would be 26x1.0 or close to that.
Opinions??

I run a set of Michelin Wildgrippers City slicks (or something like that).

the continental town & country is a nice tire I think. It has an inverted tread so you get the lesser rolling resistance of a slick plus some grip if you happen to ride over patches of wet grass or the like.

I have gotten excellent service from my Tom Slicks. Many miles and a comfortable ride, I also use them on my tandem.

I have also used and liked City slickers. I tend to get which ever of the two are on sale/available at the time I need them.

I haven't tried Michelins but I love their road tires so I certainly wouldn't have a problem trying them.

I am using Specialized Armadillos. They are not the lightest, but flats are few and far inbetween. (None for me in a year)

on days when you really want to go fast on your mtb try hutchinsons top slick 26x1.0 www.jensonusa.com they are great tiresand very fast.

Ya, I was thinking of doing the same thing, for when I go into town, but I am not a serious road rider, so I don't want to spend a lot of money, I don't really care about having decent road tires, I just don't want to where the tread on my IRC's.

If you're going to run Town & Country's, beware that the sidewalls will wear out before the tread. I've only used them once, the sidewalls on both tyres only lasted about 1,000km or so.

They were on sale for $7, but is seems they're back to $10. Not bad, 1.25" 85 psi slicks.
