C&P from another post of mine;

** btw, what's up with these last edited time things? .. I am anal about my posts... I demand perfection in spelling and punctuashyuns and composition of perfectly spaced paragraphs that fill the post in an æsthetical way!! ... And optimal use of negative space - and proper arrangement of emoticons... and, it's very important.

But now the man is making note of this? ... My posts ... mine - not yours... they are only on loan. I can save them to my laptop and delete them from the forum at any time.

man, this not fair that they do this to someone medically diagnosed with an OCD :D -? ... no, it's not right! -? .. (not fair to me) srsly .. :twitchy:

but... on teh plus side we get more variety of emoticons. It's worth-while trade-off? .. I dunno.

pls, do away with this. k thx. bai

^^ I'm being sincere btw... this is srsly - a 'serious' complaint of mine..

Okay, I happen to be someone who needs for my posts to be 'just so' .. For example, certain sentences, trains of thought, or lines of reasoning may sometimes require one period [.] or two periods [..] or as many as three periods [...] - to sufficiently resolve the momentum of the idea being conveyed.

And what about the thoughts that just trail off [........] or the ones that are suspended in a moment of disbelief [....................] .. (?)

All of these things must be properly conveyed - and it may take seconds, minutes or even days before a post achieves its ideal. Our posts are not just fleeting thoughts and observations or forgotten contributions to past discussions -- they are archived records that fill the universe of the world-wide interweb ... Now, does anyone 'really' need to know that I went back to a post of December of 2006 because I recollected a particular lopsided paragraph that did not conform to my new symmetrical ideals of paragraph æsthetics? .. No! The severity of my OCD is none of your business... so pls, do away with this useless and invasive feature. alright. And thank you for listening.

I use extra periods to convey pauses in my emails...because when not having a live conversation, I find it works better than just a comma.

......know what I mean? ...Thought so.:p

That's better than a friend of mine. She uses commas (,) where a period should be used. She also uses " in words like can"t. :crash: Makes it hard to read the emails.

The little birdy on my shoulder tells me that it's a feature that's been turned on for a long time, but the page template was missing the code to actually display it.

When did 'last edits' start being reported, and why?

Sounds like the data base is getting some TLC.

Pardon the delay in getting it up, but this should explain why (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=417995) we've turned the edit stamp on.

Good thing to have turned on too, IMHO, and I hope it's left enabled rather than disabled later on. Eliminates all sorts of potential nasty accusations when the edit audit is visible.

I will volunteer to test the "Look, I can't type worth beans and it takes a while to edit" feature!:thumb:

There is a time limit on it, for self editing

I tend to post mindlessly then go in 5 times to fix it. There is a 5 minute limit where no "edited by" will appear. Anything after 5 minutes and everyone will be able to see.
