Last year the Jim Calhoun cancer benefit ride got big attendance. This year the company I work for is a big sponsor (though I will not be working for them anymore at the time of the ride - so this isn't a shill!) and there will be tons of riders from them alone. I am thinking it is going to be a huge event. It is Sunday, June 8th and is one week after the big MS rides. Is anyone on this board going to be there?

I am riding the 50 mile loop, since that is the longest mileage available.

The biggest nut to crack is the fundraising goal... $200 per rider. But I was surprised that my co-workers ponied up the $200 within 25 minutes of me sending out my email.

I'm in, doing the slow 50.
The company I work for sponsored us last year, and is doing the same this year.

The organizers did a great job last year, except for the 5 mile hill 2 miles in. Apparently, they got a bunch of complaints, so this year is supposed to be a little flatter. I don't see how that's possible, since that part of the state is very hilly, unless you go North/South on Rt10...

You are right about the hills. In fact that first hill was included in the 25 mile route, which is just silly since most people riding the 25 are doing so as a challenge in itself. I did the 25 mile route as my first group ride last year and that first hill sucked... I had to get off and walk!

I am also doing the slow 50. I will be among the group of riders wearing CIGNA shirts.

I had to stop for a while on the hill to stop from puking and to get my heart rate back down, but once I got over the top, it was a lot of fun.

I'll be wearing a Webster Bank jersey, riding an orange LeMond. See you there.
