hey everyone, looking for some help cuz i want to replace my front rotor (massive shuddering that no matter how much i adjust it, it hasn't gone away...
gonna try replacing the rotor and shimming the caliper to get the inside pad closer to the rotor..
if anyone can provide me the size so i can just pick up a rotor after work, that would be great.
You have a rotor that you can measure on your bike...

thanks, but im at work now, and the bike is not.
so if someone could throw a measurement at me, i could save myself a day and another trip.

No kidding! A friend of mine whom I let ride my Strida almost went endo the handlebars when she gripped the front brakes too hard. It was not so funny at the time, but now...

do any of u guys get brake shudder when only on the front brake at cruising or full speed?
I'm trying to avoid it, but I think the rotor is out or caliper has too much play...

Mine does not shudder.

cools, at least you confirmed it wasn't an inherent frame geometry issue. I was told that its almost always a headset prob, bit strida's don't have headsets. Then I was thinking its the lower bar hinge
I think mine has too much play in the caliper.
If it's a Strida 5, then it's not that old & Strida are very good on after sales service, where are you?
Safe & sunny (?) Strida-ing!

yah, this is not a real strida, its a fake, the one with shuddering front brakes, but the rest of it is good and i've punished it pretty hard so far.
eitherway, i only got it cuz it was $180 2nd hand and after sales support in TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA is NILL..
i just picked up an AVID BB7 160mm kit and will try installing it tonight..
btw, the bike is matte black, and I've mounted a SWEET BROOKS CHAMPION FLYER.. oh mamma, this is heaven for this bike.
now i'm looking for leather handles..
CHOP, i KNOW you ARE LIKING THIS IDEA MAN!!!!
imagine, matte black strida, marathon tires with reflectors, BROOKS HONEY champion flyer saddle, and brown leather handle grips!!!

^^^ the theme im going for, but strida-sized and matte black!!
Hmmm! Not a huge fan of black, I changed the colour of my BSA 750cc Lowrider from White to Black, big mistake, always looks dirty.
Just changing our buses from dark blue with silver stripes to silver with dark blue details, now they stay clean looking much longer.
Just added more flames to my Strida 5 frame (to go with the flame saddle!)
I wood like some woulden guards or would I like some wooden guards (you decide!) to go with the cork grips and then a brown Brookes saddle ............wood rack...........bamboo.............Oh, Oh! Here we go again................watch this space

hey guys, dunno if anyone cares (since we are all in the strumy archer sucks thread) haha,
but over the weekend, i got the avid 160mm kit all set up.
oddly, I suspect the front 1/2 fork takes on the dimensions closer to a rear disc setup, since the flanges are closer to the fork.
I bought the FRONT brake kit, however this was 10mm off (thus only allowing me to use the factory 140mm disc.
thanks to ur help, everyone, cuz then i was able to use some spacers + longer M6 bolts to squeeze out the 10mm and was able to use the 160mm avid disc.
she brakes like a champ, smooth, great feel and im 160lbs, and no endos and NO SHUDDER!!
enjoy!

OK! That is looking seductively good in black & brown, but it will be a bugger to keep clean unfortunately. :p
