Mountain Biking - Got the bike ready for tomorrow's blizzard like conditions.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Got the studded tires on it, not too often, will be the first major snow ride this season. Now if I had a waterproof digital camera, I'd take pics. If I figure something out I'll take pics.

Have fun!
We have had some great ICE BIKING out here in Montana so far this season!
I plan on going on a few local trails tommorow(I'm on long island). It should be crazy. Have fun!

Would a studded tire -- maybe just on the back wheel -- help in extremely slippery conditions like riding over wet and slick roots, and logs?
OR am I just better off running conventional knobbies?

I would think they would offer some stability. Much like on ice. I have been told that if you are only going to run one studded tire placement on the front is perferred. Guess it gives you better control.
I don't run studs, even in icy conditions. I just run the normal knobbies. This mainly due to being a cheapskate. ;)
You may consider posting this specific question in the WINTER CYCLING forum.

I guess the other issue is to not run studs which could chew up the logs and other obstacles that other MTB'ers were patient enough to set up.

Oh man I do not miss that weather back east. Well it will be in the mid 70's today in Phoenix, and I am going to try out my new riding shorts ;-)
Just kidding around guys, have fun.
