Hey there, I'm sorry for bringing up random topics but everyone here usually seems to know something. I'm currently looking for a new snowboard, my last one was a K2 size 139 cm, and it worked well for a few years, however it is evident that it is too small. I'm trying to decide on a new board, and mainly my size. I mainly do freeriding, not FREESTYLE and am roughly about 5'6-5'7. I weight about 130lbs(+/- 2 lbs) and board a few times each summer. However I hope to be able to bring this snowboard to college (I'm a high school junior). I'd rather not spend too much as I only do it for fun. I have found a used one, a Salomon 350 , 151 cm and it comes with Burton Custom Bindings (very nice, retail for $170), Van's boots in my size and a bag. All of this for 120 USD. MY question is, is it risky to buy a board of a new size without really trying it and is it risky too buy snowboard equiptment used. The Salomon board retails for 200 USD alone so I'm thinking this is a pretty good deal. My experience with buying bike parts used is failry good so I'm not too worried about snowboard stuff, however I'm just asking you guys, hopefully one of you is a ski/snowboard mechanic or something.

Thanks
Byron

I'm ~5'10" and 155 and I ride a 161 - so it sounds like your size is right on the money.
As far as use - check the edges for wear, make sure the scratches on the bottom are not too deep, and check the top for delamination. If these three things are good the board should be OK. Unlike a bike, snowboards have very few (other than bindings) moving parts - not as much to wear out. Sounds like a good buy.
