View Full Version : Flat bar shifters on Trek 2.3?

I recently received a Trek 2.3 and the road bars are killing my back; former USCF road racer who spent too much time on the pavement trying to get a free lap.

So here are the questions:

The stem is 31.8 so it looks like mtb bars w/ a little rise a sweep will be easy to source.

Will the Shimano flat bar 10 spd shifters fit mtb bars?

Will the shifters match the 34/50 compact double derailleur in the front?

Will the brake levers designed to work with the flat bar shifters work with the 105 calipers?

What width tire will the 2.3 tolerate, wider than 23mm?

Thanks for the help

If I'm reading this right, you are looking for a flat bar? I think I have both a flat bar and a riser in my garage. If interested, pay postage and I'll pay it forward :-) The flat bar came off my Fuji Sagres, the riser off one of my MTBs (I *think* I still have the riser).

It definitely works fine. Levers for cantilever brakes will work with your road brakes.

The parts list is in the last post.

And if you don't want those uncomfortable road shifters, you can just send 'em to me. ;)
