Hello everyone. I am a new member to BF and a new bicyclist. I have only been riding a few weeks and am enjoying in greatly, however....I know not a single person that rides. I see some folks posting from the Raleigh/Cary area, and being as I live between the two, would like to maybe make arrangements to do some unorganized group rides. I know the NCBC does rides, but the ones I would be able to do are on the weekends and I can only ride, Mon morning, anytime Tues, and Wed mornings. ( I work a lot).
Would most likely be interested in starting this in August as I would be out of town from June to Aug 2. If we could get a few people together for camraderie, fun, and maybe even a little competition...would it be a stretch to assume it would make us all a bit better? I am pretty new to the sport, but I have been a runner for a while and seem to do OK at biking....at least that's what I 've been told ...lol.
Anyone interested in a weekday riding deal?

Brian,

There are a ton of riders from all sides of the Triangle. Check out this forum that is Triangle specific: http://www.trianglecycling.com/

It seems you are more of a recreational rider as opposed to a racer, if so, I can't help you in terms of rides that exist. Checkout that forum for a couple of slower paced rides. Also, checkout Cycling Spoken Here and The Spin Cycle for existing weekday and weekend rides that are solidly attended.

Actually...i want to become...or work my way up to being a racer. As i said earlier...I am almost a newborn to the sport. That shall change in time. Between teh job...60 plus hours a week, and the military....time is a premium...but i can get in a ride to and from work on 3 days, plus what i can train on Mon, Tues, and Wed.

We have some military folk in our club.

Regardless, those two shops have good rides for those aspiring to race and those who have been racing. They would be good to get your feet wet.

looks like caselawz28 beat me to the reference. it's in my sig. i'm from the clayton area and we have rides every saturday morning out here. most of the rides i do out this way are local pick up rides and usually i just get a call from one guy and talk via email with another about rides. check the TC site out, i'm sure you will be able to find someone to ride with.

oh yea...welcome to the area!
