About to relocate to the Puyallup/Auburn area from Ohio... any opinions on the local road riding around that area? Was in town over the weekend, but not really long enough to get a feel for the riding...

Also, if anyone lives in the area and races master's on the road, would love to hear about that scene and local teams in the Seattle area.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Welcome to the South Sound area. Sounds like you need to hook up with the Tacoma Wheelmans bike club. They have a website and can give you all the info you need and I'm sure there are some members here that will be glad to help you out

There are some very pretty rides in the Auburn/Black Diamond/Green River Gorge areas. You can also ride up the Cedar River Trail to Lake Washington, or North uptoward to Issaquah.

Also, from Puyallup, you can do the RAMROD route, which is a 160-ish mile lap around Mt. Rainier National Park...or you can just take 410 up to Crystal Mountain in the summer.

Here's a good library of routes that start in the South King County area, just to give you some ideas...

This same site also has some rides nearby in the Orting area (Pierce County).

If you like organized rides, this site has a good calendar:

The racing scene is covered here:

For that matter, you're not that far from Seattle, if you want to join rides there, or the Kitsap Peninsula/Hood Canal area, once you get past Tacoma. Check out the Tacoma Wheelmans Bike Club, but also the big Seattle area club, which is at www.cascade.org (http://www.cascade.org).
