Triathlon - Have a chance to buy a RENN 575 ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I did a search for RENN and it seems that there isn't much on this forum. I have a chance to pick up a slightly used Renn 575 Tubular for a good price and wondered what any Renn riders thought about this wheel and support from Frank. I have heard from several dealers that Frank has had some issues with his suppliers through no fault of his own. This has reduced his product availability to nearly nothing. So my options are to wait some undetermined length of time to get a new disk, or buy a used disk.
Any thoughts?
I had heard his support is top notch. I ran a 575 for a few races, but has some bad flex issues with it. When I would climb any hill standing, or took a corner at decent speed, I could get the wheel to flex terribly. In a straight line, it was great. I am a big sprinter type though at 195 and 10% BF.
Most smaller guys don't have the same problems and really like the disc.

Thanks for the info. I am a bigger guy too but not much of a sprinter, nor do I thrash the bike around much on climbs. I will try it for a while, mostly 15K and 40K TTs then if there are issues sell it off to someone else to get some use out of it.
