Southern California - What did you get at bike-to-work day pitstops?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got a bag, energy bars I can't eat because they have peanuts, a Metro blinky, Foothill Transit flashlights, pens, spoke cards, stickers, a bike map, and other stuff I haven't bothered to look at yet. :thumb:

Nothing as far as I know there was no such thing here in Irvine. :(

Every year for as long as I can remember, there has been a luncheon with goody bags and door prizes. Until this year. Nothing. And its also the first year that I am commuting. What a time for them to stop.

I got to my local pit stop too late today, they were already shut down...:(

But I'm getting a nice cache of Clif bars, shot bloks, sunscreen/moisturizer packets, maps and Luna moons from Bike Week Pasadena...

I hung out at the UCLA campus pit stop for a few hours promoting our team and swiped a bagel and a banana.

^^ Ouch, 1955.

I didn't get anything as my commute doesn't go by any of them. If I had dragged my @$$ out of bed 15 minutes earlier (as I set my alarm to) I could have used an alternate route to stop by one or two, but sleep was apparently more important than energy bars and blinkies.

Oh, I did get one of those Metro blinkies at the Tour of California for using their bike valet, and they rock! I can clip it to my helmet retention piece and it's more visible than my seatpost mounted one.

Banana, food, shower, clothes waiting for me so I didn't have to drag them...oh...I forgot....that was at my office and I put those things there! Nothing on the road!

^ Hehe yeah, I leave snacks and stuff at work. It was so hot this afternoon that I left my knee warmers, arm warmers, base layer and skull cap at work to ride home light and cool.

Dang, I wanted to go, but I don't have classes on TTh and I didn't want to go all the way to Westwood just to get freebies  How was it up there?

Oh also, I finally sorted through the other stuff and found note pads, patch kits, sunblock keychain, a small red led light with compass, a bus-shaped keychain, and california poppy seeds. I went WTF at the poppy seeds.

Do'h! I made a new post (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=418773) before I saw this one! Anyways, I got the same things it seems. They weren't handing out any t-shirts. They made a comment that they were holding a raffle for the LA Metro employees to give them out. None for the bicycle commuters.

While I was waiting for my friend to show up, a photographer for the local paper showed up and took my picture. That's me in the yellow jersey. :D

I got a rock.

A pet rock? A magic rock?

Sounds like a lousy pit stop. Where was it? I'll call MTA...

My coworker showed me an article in today's newspaper on some guy who commutes from Ventury to Chatsworth every day. What is that, 30-40 miles each way with the Santa Susanna grade to boot? Hardcore!!!

Sounds like a nice warm day on Bruin Walk watching girls who are walking to class. Brilliant!!!

Well, only a short trip for me. SD's Bike to Work day is today. My first time biking to work since I switched offices 2 months ago. A water bottle, rear blinky (how did they find out I keep losing mine?), 10-20% coupons to lbs, and a few bars and gels. Not as fancy as last year's (t-shirt and bike-to-work day ceramic mug); but hey, can't complain about free stuff. :D :p
