Hello guys,
I am pretty new to biking. A few years back, my dad and I got a pair of trek 7.2FX's just to bike around, at the beach, and for short errands. They never got too much use, maybe around 100 miles a year. I recently have gotten really into biking, and have been trying to ride 100+ miles a week, and hope to bring that up to 200+ once school is out. I want to get intro the racing scene at college next year in Cat D, and want to get a road bike that I can race for a season or two. I don't want to spend that much; if I decide to keep racing in higher category, I can get a better bike then. The Felt F85 seems like the best bike for the price. Is there anything better in that price range ($1099 + pedals + shoes)/

Any input is appreciated.

the best bike for the price is one you can afford that feels better than any other bike you can afford after testing out several of them.

Or it should be full carbon with Zipp 808s, either way will work fine ;)

If you can afford a CAAD9 with 105, you might go that route as well. You won't ever 'need' a better bike.

Edit: Price is 1300 before taxes, and frame replacement is about 400 bucks if you wreck it.

Does nobody have any experience with this bike?

I don't have experience with the F85, but I do ride a Felt. It is a fine bike if it fits you well, and I believe Felt is a pretty good value for your money. I had a warranty issue with my first Felt F55 and Felt replaced the frame without any hassle, for what it is worth.

Make sure it has full 105 components, at that price level you should expect full 105.
