I really don't, actually. I think it would be nice, though. For some reason I don't have girlfriends in the summer. I seem to find them in the fall, date all winter and into spring, and then it ends. Normally this is awesome. I get to hang out with my friends all summer, go camping all the time, and in general not worry about relationship responsibilities. I think it's worked out well in part because the girls I've dated either had no time or no inclination to take weekend camping/canoeing/biking trips. If any of us had continued to date over the summer they probably would have been a little neglected, which wouldn't have been fair. They were all wonderful girls. It's been years since I've had a girlfriend during the summer. I would love to try it again if I could find a girl that was into the same summer activities I am. I moved to Milwaukee last year and now live about four hours away from all my camping buddies, so I need to find some local people anyways. I just have no motivation to do weekend trips by myself, and I don't want to be bored and stuck in town all summer. I'd be worried about camping with new people, though. I've gone camping pretty much exclusively with the same group of guys for the better part of the last ten years. I think it would be easier to get used to camping with a new girlfriend than a new group of guys. Maybe I'm just being dumb.

That's all, I guess. Feel free to comment/offer advice/ call me a asshat

You don't need a girlfriend. You need a womanfriend. :D

You know, Siu, I wish you lived in Milwaukee. I don't think I would have to twist your arm too hard to get you to go out biking with me.

I mean, i'm just saying, but i find sex in the summer to be less enjoyable than in the winter. You know, not by much but...for what its worth.

Also, i'm not sure why you're having problems. Chicks love that stuff, especially the ******bag part (http://hotchickswith******bags.com/)

Hmm, interesting - never took a seasonal approach to it - it was more of a physical place in which to do the deed that held my attention.

What do you eat when you are Vegan, camping.

Do you forage for nuts and berries, or eat delicous tree bark.

I make a lot of soups and tortilla wraps with rice, beans, baked tofu, and greens. I also like clif bars in a pinch. I've never had a problem with food on camping trips. There is a lot out there for vegans. It's actually almost easier to backpack vegetarian style.

Ooh, botto, you're pretty close, actually. I'd rather build an earthship than a shack, though. I'd totally take a shack if I had a decent parcel of land to go with it. I could start a garden, too.

Too bad I don't have the money, or I take you up on your suggestion.

One whose head is so far up their rear end it could pass for a hat; used to describe a person who is stubborn, cruel, or otherwise unpleasant to be around.

the word of the day. no everyone run out of your cubicle and use it without laughing. later.

Tortillas and peanut butter. Plus cliff bars and grain bars. That's how you pack to go backpacking. Forget meat. Unless you have some jamaican marinaded turkey jerkey.

It's easy, too. I eat really well when I go camping. I think a friend and I are going hiking next weekend. He's being gracious enough to meet halfway between us, in the Kettle Morraines. I'm excited about it. I'll have to come up with a few new things to try.

Tortellini... lightwieght, tasty, fatty, salty... everything you need. Throw in some kale for greens, toward the very end of the boil. Yum. Not vegan, though.

I like your style, Pheard. I actually found some decent vegan jerky (wild idea, I know) for camping. The have a thai curry seitan that is awesome. I might have to go pick some up after work.

Fruit cups are also a nice treat while backpacking. I highly recommend bringing them along

Another thing I found recently, non backpacking related. Mushrooms are an insanely awesome meat substitute. Whole grain rice, mushrooms, and green peppers, with some teriyaki marinade on top.

Shadiyah

Ohhh yeah. Especially portabellos. Sometimes I'll marinate them and throw them on top of a salad.

TheKingFiphtin
05-16-08, 01:17 PM
I'm not a big mushroom fan in general, but I love those little straw mushrooms. They are some of the best things to ever grow out of the ground. Portabella mushrooms are good too. I like slicing them thin and putting them on top of baked spagetti with broccoli.

As far as meat substitutes go, I love good ol' tofu, and seitan is effing amazing. I try to stay away from the more processed stuff (though boca burgers and riblets and great) because I spend too much money on it. tofu is cheap and versatile.

God, I'm so hungry.

He's half chow chow so he's soft like a teddy bear. He makes a great pillow, too.

No contest betweent the dog and the bike, either. I can always build another bike. Sprocket is the best dog. He's trained to pee on anything on command and he can turn off the lights in my room when I ask. Totally irreplacable.
