couldnt find anything on the search function..

i'm trying to take my bottom bracket off, as i need to replace it,
but the fixed cup side is stuck solid, it won't budge at all,
took it to the LBS and they couldnt move it either, anyone got any suggestions,
i'm pretty screwed otherwise.

I assume you've got the rest of the bits and pieces removed?

Hose it down with some lubricating oil. Use a hair dryer or propane torch to heat the bottom bracket up a bit, let the oil be drawn into the threads.

put the wrench flats of the cup in the jaws of a bench vise and turn the frame.....

yes, read it, very interesting, lovely pictures too, however not relevent to my problem.

Whoops ! Sorry didn't read your post properly.

I know it is obvious, but make sure you are turning it the correct way ! The drive side is reverse threaded.

the makeshift nut and bolt tool on the sheldon link above works as advertised but in my experience it tends to leave marks on the bb cup..
bench vice trick works pretty well..
but it's nice to ahve one of these...

hey, no worries,
yeah i thought it was reverse threaded, so have tried turning it both ways,
going to try the vice trick tomorrow, that and some wd40 should hopefully shift it.

Leave the WD40 / GT85 in overnight.
