my first race is in 7 days and id like some advice on a game plan for the week. i have some options of rides i can do but am not sure if doing them will hurt or help my race.

my week

m-rest day
t-hard group ride. usually 24-26mph avg for 1 hour with 1 hour warm up 15 min cool down
w-club tt. 7 miles
t-club rr. usually 21-28 miles 22-24mph avg
f-rest day
s-race. 10 mile crit. cat 5

mon-fri bike to work. 7.2 miles round trip

should i exclude any of these rides? sometimes the tt can take a lot out of me but im usually recovered by the weekend. is there a better schedule to follow?

your race is only ten miles, less than 30 minutes, make sure you get a very good warm-up before the race. ride a little on friday, it looks like you are already riding to and from work. do a little more and keep it easy with a couple of short, hard efforts thrown in just to keep you loose. good luck!

Personally, I would substitute "rest day" for "easy day with some openers".

Otherwise, your legs will be dead on Saturday.

Dang, your club is pretty active. I'm jealous.

Is it the Tour Du Parc Crit you are doing?

Don't over think it.

Your first race is pretty much like the first time you have sex, only it doesn't last as long.

Enjoy.

+ to everything above.

Race = aggressive group ride. Even then, my first race seem quite tame. (for reference, my 5th race is this afternoon.)

don't get so worked up you forget that this is fun.

For a targeted Saturday race, I prefer to make Thursday my easy/off day and do a short race prep ride on Friday with some decent efforts to get the legs moving.

For a saturday race I'll go easy on the thursday morning group ride and take friday off.

It's a 10 mile race, and it's your first race. What you do this week in the grand scheme of things reallydoesn't matter.

If, however the point is to do as well as possible Saturday, then I'd skip Thursday's RR, make it a rest day, and Friday I'd do an hour with 10 minutes of tempo and 3 sprints.

Way back when, I used to do skill related drills in parking lots and flat grassy areas with easy spinning before and after. These were usually done on what you have as your Friday rest day. Most of these drills related to turning, leaning on other riders, getting shoved, rubbing tires, falling, etc. If you are racing on that particular weekend I would suggest not doing the falling and shoving for fear of stupid injuries that will prohibit you from racing. Bike handling is something that needs to be addressed more, especially in the Cat 4&5 ranks.
