Living Car Free - Living car free...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've done it for 22 years.
It's overrated.

No thanks necessary.
If living car-free is overrated, why have you done it for 22 years?

Any chance she'd share the recipe? :)

Any chance she'd share the recipe? :)
Mrs Cyclaholic's Pasta sauce
90g (3oz) butter
1 tablespoon oil
2 cloves garlic (Mr. Cyclaholic prefer 3 or 4 cloves :o)
800g (28oz) whole tomatoes, pureed and strained (Mr Cyclaholic prefers a blend of fresh roma and cherry tomatoes, dipped in boiling water for about 45 seconds, then pureed and strained)
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon basil
salt & pepper to taste
Place butter and oil in pan, add crushed garlic, cook for 1 minute.
Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients, and stir until combined.
Simmer gently for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Don't be deceived by the simplicity of this recipe, the results are truly amazing! but you must use fresh garlic. It may be enjoyed immediately but reaches it's peak after being allowed to mature in the fridge for 24-48 hours, especially if using fresh tomatoes. Just place a batch in any clean non-metallic container and place it in the fridge. May be reheated in the microwave on low power setting.
Enjoy :D

I bet you're only 22 years old. The first 18 don't count so it's probably only 4 years. And those 4 don't count if you were in college so it's probably only 0 years. Lightweight.
Know any good recipes?

I thought I was just asking an innocent question; I didn't realize until later that the purpose of this thread is to be an a**hole to all and sundry. The OP's a troll, and so, sometimes, are you. But at least you have the virtue of having a mission, which is, as far as I can tell, to deflate LCF people who are getting a bit too puffed up about themselves. In this regard, you serve a valuable, if sometimes annoying, service. This other guy just wants to start fights for no reason at all.

Deflating puffed up LCF people (riding on high horses) is a fair enuff description of one of my "missions." I think the intent of the OP's post is to serve that same mission.

Wrong. You take trollery to new levels of artistry. You will live forever in the internet hall of shame...er, fame. This guy is not even in the same league with you.

What's a cager?

Not yet, but I soon will. I'm planning to serve it over brown rice instead of pasta, along with another recipe I picked up on LCF a couple years ago:
Biftec Hinault
Cut some sirloin beef in strips. Brown it briefly in hot olive oil, along with chopped garlic, salt and pepper to taste. It should be browned but still rare. Add a spoonful of water and lots of chopped fresh basil and cook for another minute.

Botto, you too could afford the 1987 Chevy Caprice you've always wanted despite living in the city if you would apply yourself. With enough effort, you could make it all the way up to assistant manager at the Taco Bell you work at. We all believe in you.

...and being a Christian doesn't make you Jesus, and riding a bike doesn't make you Lance...but it doesn't mean that a person should stop trying to live by a principle and doing the best they can.
Everyone who makes the choice to ride a bike work (whether they are car free or not) is an agent for change. History hasn't chosen the martyrs or the spokesmen yet.
BTW, Rosa Parks would just be a black women arrested on the bus for breaking the law if she didn't have the backing of the civil rights movement. There are many people you will never hear about who sacrificed a heck of a lot more than Rosa Parks that were also agents of change for civil rights movement.

I think some people who were banned from P&R are trying to come here to cause problems. I'm not responding to this any more and I think it would be helpful if others did the same. We've successfully stuck together in the past to get rid of this kind of antisocial behavior, and I think we can do it again. I have reported this thread to the mods and I hope they'll offer some constructive help soon.

So let me get this straight: Threads insulting to poor and fat people, Anti-Bush threads, Peak-Oil threads, cager-hate threads, etcetera, all of these are perfectly acceptable, but when a forum member who has been car-free for two decades says he just rides his bike without thinking he's bicycling's MLK it causes an uproar. Way to go, guys.

You almost got it, but don't forget rants about TV Wasteland, Fast Food Nation, the diaspora of the white population to cultural ghettos in the suburbs, and evils of credit. All that non bicycling/non car-free "stuff" is welcome in Roody's World of Car Free Conventional Wisdom.

BTW, do you have any good recipes?
