This guy has too much damn spare time AND money. He bought ten sets of brake pads for his bike?! WTF!!

He's out of his freakin mind to expect 2 grand STARTING BID for that stuff. I don't care if it cost him 50 grand new, it NOT NEW ANYMORE!! People on ebay should get a clue. Just because you buy it new doesn't mean you can sell it for a new price! Especially not on ebay. Should be interesting to see what he relists it for after it doesn't sell!

This is the same guy who's 19 pound bike we discussed a while back, by the way. Wonder why he's selling it?

Nice stuff but used bikes just don't bring that kind of premium from an informed buyer.

From the looks of the elaborate ad he is looking for a sucker.

Werd Sam... and there aren't too many suckers on Ebay that buy high end bikes that I've seen. Even brand new bikes don't go for anywhere near what they normally retail for. I know I personally won't buy anything from Ebay that's the same price I can get it from a reputable dealer. Why deal with shady ebay people when I can just get it shipped to my house from a business I trust? I always laugh when I see high dollar parts on there for exactly what it would cost from an online retailer.

I didn't know Ron Popeil sold bikes....

Ammm.... if he had it built up and rode it, why did he disassemble the whole thing to sell it? Now the buyer's gotta rebuild it all... that just sounds dumb to me.

Yeah, I didn't really understand that myself. That's what makes me suspicious. Why build up a 19 pound hardtail, then disassemble it and sell it? I bet he's holding out.. he probably kept some of the parts he liked and threw some junky stuff on there or something.

that's one of the most ******** auctions I've ever seen. If he's going to sell a complete bike then put the darn thing together! Part of the fun of building you're own bike is scouring the net and bike shops for deals.
And what's the deal with 10 sets of brake pads. that's enough to last 10 years on a light xc bike!

No joke!! I ride in TONS of muddy/wet/sandy conditions and I couldn't possibly go through more than 2 sets per season.

you know there are parts missing that you would need to ride the bike (i.e. crank, rear detrailer and shifters)
i have to agree there is something weird, i think the saler has watched TO MANY of the paid commercials where they sale the knives that never need sharpening and they will throw in the can opener if you call in the next 30 min.

You mean I should retract my BUY IT NOW bid for $7000? :D

Crazy price. Used is used, and eBay isn't the place to trust someone that a component only has 10 miles on it. Yeah, right...

Yep. Bid on this item (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3162026902&category=348) instead. At least the price makes more sense!

Wow, you can recycle lathe taillings for about 1.5 cents/pound....or you can get some moron to pay $1.50 for a few ounces of them on Ebay!

Only 100 miles on the bike after spending several $1000 to build it!? The guy either has serious financial planning problems or he picked a good truck for the bike to fall off of.

either...

a) He ran off with some shop teams trailer at the last race

-OR-

b) someone told this moron that he could get more for the bike if he sold the parts seperately on Ebay... so he took the bike apart!
