Hi,
the batteries on my Polar HRM died months ago. Had my best riding season ever, too. It's an advanced older model, the Accurex Plus, and a pain in the butt to use. I am thinking of selling it.I never did download the training info into my computer, it's oriented toward an athlete. I wanted something that would track how much time I spent in zone over the course of a day. Performance has a low end Polar on sale that I could get, with a coupon, for $40. Which is about what batteries would cost (needs both) to get mine going again. Of course, I have been doing really well without one; and my lazy bones are telling me not to bother.
Mentally, I am stuck. Is there an easy to use HRM that provides decent training info? Would I need new batteries to sell the Accurex?

I've had the battery replaced in my Polar HRM for 4 dollars at a jewelery shop. I suspect you'll get more interest if it works when you sell it and for 4 dollars, why not replace it.

Do not have a jewelry store or any other unauthorized dealer replace your batteries. They cannot replace the waterproof seals and if you are in a humid climate or anywhere near water the watch will fog on you and you won't be able to read anything.

I know because I had a guy at a local fitness store tell me that he was authorized by Polar to replace batteries. Turned out he wasn't, my watch was ruined. Because Polar had other complaints about this guy they sent me another watch. The original was ruined beyond repair.

Send it to an authorized dealer. They will also check the batteries in your strap. Then sell it and buy a newer model. I have the s610 and love it.

Sports Instruments (http://www.sportsinstruments.com/hrms.html) makes a great line of HRMs. I have the ECG5.
