Road Bike Racing - I raced yesterday.....

Sitting around 8th place in 3 man chase group until the final right hand turn.... Corner marshal apparently called it a day and went home before we got there. No markings on the road so we went straight instead of turning........

Finished the race backasswords (from the north instead of the south on the road) and got 13th because of the mishap. Others find similar fate :(

hah, that happened my second race this year, they sent the front half of the pack left, and the backhalf of the group, mainly from the team running the race, went right (the correct way).

That sucks.

no marshal, that sounds really dangerous. going the wrong way is among the better things that could have happened.

question - does sitting 8th place in a 3 man chase group mean that 5 were up the road, and you were 3rd wheel among 3 chasing? anyway, sounds like you were going well and had a good race until goofiness beyond your control occurred. that's a silver lining, yeah?
