2nd Century of 2008

Yesterday was the Seattle Tour de Cure, and I rode the century course (plus an 8 mile warm up ride down to the start line).

Final stats:

108.44 miles
5900' of climbing
6:48:44 rolling time

I rolled the century mark at 6:19:00, which is nearly an hour better than my first one of the season last month (which was my first century in over 10 years.)

I'm looking forward to the 7 Hills of Kirkland Century on Memorial Day. According to some guys I talked to yesterday, it's seriously a pain in the quads.

Outstanding! Those are impressive stats. It's so motivating seeing someone make such admirable achievements. Now I'm fired up to do a second century next weekend.

Nice ride Clifton - I was out there also doing the 100 mile loop. My bike computer broke down so I don't know our stats. We started around 8 and finished at about 2:30, so it was around 6 or so hours. I rode with a couple of non-clyde friends and they sure put me through the paces on the hills. I don't know about you, but the afternoon heat really slowed me down at the end (the 90+ degrees is unusual so early round here, not that I'm complaining.) I loved the views of the snow capped Cascades up north through Granite Falls and Lake Roessiger.

I started at 7am, so you must have caught up to me near the finish if you came in at 2:30pm. Do you remember seeing Sasquatch, riding a Sasquatch sized black Cross-Check? (I may have been the only Fred out there in the scorching sun rocking full fenders and mudflaps on my whip.)

I did have a nice chat with a fellow sporting a Maui Cycle jersey as we spun up the hill to Redmond.

I was riding with Maui dude and the rest of his group up to the Machias Station rest stop. I was ahead of them up to the 53 mile stop at Roesinger, and they took off ahead of my pace after the Granite Falls stop. I think that group was just behind the Amgen riders for a long time.
That last rest stop at Goddard School was too tempting for me and I had to just refill the bottles and get rolling. I live on the other side of the block from there, rode to the start line from my place, and almost bailed out and went home once I got there again. That was the 102 mile marker for my day, right after that climb up Old Woodinville-Duval/232nd/Trilogy.

I was wearing a Team Bio-Rad jersey and #220.
