Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
HELLO ALL,
My name is Will and I've been riding bikes as soon as I started walking pretty much! Growing up in NYC and New Jersey I rode my Bike everywhere. After my tour of duty in the US ARMY I moved to South Florida and purchased a used Mountain Bike for $50.00 from a co-worker and rode my bike to work and back everyday! As a kid I had stingray with the banana seat and in High School I purchased an English racer (Sky Blue).. I now ride my Son's old mountain bike and I also ride a Motorcycle. I'am looking into buying a new Mountain Bike!! Any Tips? I'am 6ft and 4inch Tall and I weigh 217LBS.. Looking into gaining advise from many of ya'all Experts!!

Welcome aboard, Will! Be sure to drop by the Clydesdale/Athena subforum as well. Look at the Specialized Hardrock, in one of it's many incarnations as a start, though.....it's pretty much bombproof.
Hey Tom,
I appreciated the Welcome!! Will be checking out your site!!

Thanks East Hill,
I did check out your sig link and Wow, You are a Bike Hobbiest!!LOL!! I'am looking for a new bike that I can use for recreational purpose and/or tour. I was leaning on getting the 2008 Cannondale T800 but it's a bit pricey I used to have a 1985 Cannondale Mountain touring type bike but I let my Son take it back in the mid 90's. So Cannondale is the last bike brand that I owned other then the Schwin 5 speed English Racer that I purchased in 1975,LOL!!

I would check in with the Touring forum folks and see what else they can recommend for you. What kind of budget are you talking?
Yeah, I  vintage bikes!

HELLO EAST HILL and Tom!!
Well I gotta tell ya the Good News! Throughout these past couple of weeks of checking out road bikes at several LBS this past Saturday I finally found my baby! At this one local bike shop that I visited three times prior they received a Cannondale Road bike that caught my eyes. And the sales guy did'nt even show me that one. He kept trying to convince me to buy the Specialized Crosstrail which did'nt really grab me. So I then asked him if I could see that Silver in color one and he brought it down and told me that it was a 2008 Cannondale Caad9 R5. Well it was Mens size 58 and slightly over my budget but you know what it's what I wanted!! They tuned up my bike and got me fitted. I also had to buy these cleated pedals and specialized Shoes to wear with the pedals. Good thing that the sales guy hooked my bike to a stationally poast so I could learn how to release my footing from the cleated pedals. It took me a while to get it down pack but i finally got it!! I have everything except a helmet due to they did'nt have a Size Large for my Big Head,LOL!! So Friends what do you think about the Cannondale caad 9 R5? "Honestly" This was a little over my budget but for a beginner I did'nt want to spend outrageous amount of money. Hope to hear from ya'all soon!!

Will

I think you started off with a great bike! Clip in pedals are a lot of fun, eh?
I am still getting the hang of mine :roflmao2: .
So, how many miles do you have so far?
Oh yeah, make sure you get a helmet! Don't go very far without one--we hate to lose members.

Thanks Buddy!!
