Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Sweet stem to replace the beast I have now

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey guys, this is really an appearance over function question. I have a stem (31.8 I believe, using some big shims right now) made for downhill mountain biking I believe. It's pretty big and beefy, and I would rather have a cleaner good looking stem.

Found a link to my current stem here: http://www.bikewagon.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/3252302/vpcsid/0/SFV/32140

So yes... it works just fine right now, but I want something to complete my conversion to fixie.

It's a 1-1/8 threadless stem I believe, not sure how long it is. I just want something at a reasonable price that isn't huge and disgusting.

Any suggestions?

Hah. Online forums. You really can't ask anything without getting some fire shot your way. Why are you wasting your time responding to this thread if you don't want to contribute? I asked the people here who have interest in offering any sort of advice.

Didn't your mom ever teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all? I give up on the human race because of people like you.

you give up easy sir.

If you like black there are sooooo many stems, just peruse the internets.

If you like silver there is nitto and thomson and a very small handful of others.

Yeah she did tell me however that rule doesn't apply to stupid questions . . .and there is such a thing as a stupid question. BTW nice comeback, should I expect your next response to be somewhere along the lines of "NO, You're STUPID?"

And to be on topic for the sakes of the forum just get a thomson and be done with this thread. Its the equivalent to the saddle thread where the OP wants everyone to talk him into buying a Brooks.

Good luck with whatever stem you end up with. I'll be looking for your thread where you'll be asking for help installing it.

This is pretty accurate. I hope you aren't on here asking which OS stem would look fixie kool on your Schwinn Varsity conversion.

This idiot has been a member of the forum for a little over a month and he already has an attitude like this. Sometimes I wish we could just ban these people quick before their cancerous actions spread to others. It'd be really simple, just put out a pole that asks if we should ban them, after 100 votes if the answer is a majority yes, then a mod bans them.

I've got no problem with saying what you want to, but just post whoring to say something like "blah blah GOOGLE blah blah" is a waste of time.

I have to agree with what Jacobi said....
Some of you guys are getting alittle predictable!....This is the same guy who'd be burnin' up the keyboard if someone would have asked, "do I roll up one or both of the legs on my girl jeans when I ride the gruelling quarter mile from starbucks?"

anywho good luck on the stem guy....oh and if you need advice on how to mount it..post away bro'

Haha ban for posting ? Good luck with that! This coming from the section of the forum full of threads that aren't even remotely related to cycling much less fixed gear bikes in the first place. You guys are starting to become as pissy as the Mt bike guys and as Elitist as the roadies. What does it matter when I signed up, am I gonna get banned for not being the right skin tone too?

thetank might be wrong in the way he sed it, but seriously people need to learn how to search for things instead of being spoon fed information.

maybe it's just the type of people then....some need to ask questions whereas some go out and figure them out themselves...

u can't be serious if one cant find a stem replacement SOMEWHERE online whether thats ebay...whether thats google....BENS....businesscycles....your LBS....damn there are sooo many options RATHER than...

"well i hate asking this question on a forum, BUT can u find me XXXX with XXXX for my XXXXX"

/rant

ps. yes there are forum appropriate questions as well...

Yeap. You will certainly be banned if your skin is of an offending hue.

I guess my wording was improper to say the least. I figured everyone's an adult here and by now we should all know that words can't hurt you. However I guess someone thought it was fitting to involve an admin cause telling someone to "Google it up" is considered an insult. Either way I extend my apologies to the OP and hope your stem search is fruitful and yields your desired outcome.

riotboy- what I would say to you would get me banned so . . . :notamused:
