I am signed up to do Ride the Rockies next month. Last year I did it on my fixie and am contemplating doing it again this year on the fixie. Is anyone out there doing it? Or better yet, is anyone else considering doing it fixed? It would be great to have company (on those long downhills...)

Nice! What gearing setup do you use? Do you do the whole thing in a single gear or run a flipflop or what?

48x18 - and it was fixed-- no flip-flop. Ride report can be seen at http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=315474

I remember that ride report. Very nice.
I think I'm done using my fixed gear on rides with significant number of long descents. I'm using my single speed rig instead on my next big ride. :D
I've done some fixed distance riding (nothing a 55 year old randonneur dude wouldn't laff at) and always found the descents to be where i really started hating bicycles. :)
