Can you? Tell me how. I have gone through a few tires because I have been skidding and skipping a lot more lately.

Either buy cheap, bulk tires, or stop skidding. You don't try to fix tires unless you enjoy spending time on the side of the road fixing flats.

rotate the tire before you get a hole.

Conti Gatorskins. Get some 32s or something. You could skid for months on those.

use slime

How would slime help?
That stuff is supposed to make the tubes less prone to pooping.
How does that help your tires from wearing through?

what is your gear combo? (ex:42/16, 48/15) It plays a part in how many skid patches you have. if you only have one skid patch (ex:48/16) you'll go through tires very quick. Here's a program that will help you:

slime can fix everything....like duct tape...
on second thought, go w/ the duct tape

Get a brake, or a 17t cog (for 17 skid patches with most sized chain rings) or stop skidding.

A brake is the cheapest and best solution.... otherwise get good tires, lots of skid patches, and plan to spend more on tires...

Some people overestimate the importance of having a gear ratio with loads of skid patches I think. My ratio gives me five skid patches and my rear tryes tend to wear very evenly. I skid quite a lot, but I don't generally try to do super long skids though, mainly just functional skidding.

works fine if the hole isn't too big and if you fold the bill into 1/4.

Of course everyone knows that this is a "get home so I can replace the tire" patch as opposed to a "OMG, if I keep cramming monies into my tire i can do skiddzzz 4EVAR!!!" (which I suppose isn't too far from the truth... if by cramming money into your tires you mean buy new ones)

Duct tape may be harder to get into a tube than SlimeŽ but the rewards far outweigh the effort.

A hole you can fix with patches. Maybe you've heard of them. For severe holes, even for a tubeless tire, you can try cutting a patch out of a piece of the sidewall of an old tire, and using marine adhesive (which dries flexbile) and glueing that up. I road a tear in a tubeless mtb tire for 6 months with that.

Uh...but for "holes" from skidding which actually wears tire away, not sure how a patch will replace tire that doesn't exist any more.

A tire that's got a patched skid hole is like playing Russian Roulette with the odds based on your number of skid patches.

Somebody riding a 48-17 is going to stay in the game longer than someone riding 48-16.
