I have been a Cannondale man for years. About 10 years now to be exact.
BUT
I have recently put a new Specialized Epic on layaway and the experience is getting better as I go along. The LBS did what it could to give me a good deal and I told them I would help them organize some local rides and shop events. Well I dropped in today to see when it will be shipping and they had more good news. Since I will be doing some PR for the shop and riding the Specialized bike the local Specialized rep whacked an extra 200 bucks off the bike for us. In short I will be getting a 2004 model bike for almost 500.00 off the normal price. I cannot say how pleased I am that Specialized will do this for me based on the notion I will be assisting this local shop in PR. It means they care about their riders and will be good to you.
I have only been able to negotiate deals like this on year end closeouts or leftovers. This is a new 2004 model that is just hitting the stores. I'll be looking at Specialized really hard in the future for bike purchases.
I cannot say that this kind of deal will happen to everyone but it does indicate the philosophy of Specilized. They care! A lot!
