Hey, everyone.
I'm going on a cycling trip next weekend (30 May - 1 June), and I need some help.
The plan is to take the ferry across from Dublin to Holyhead, then cycle from there to Llandudno. However, there seems to be a part of the route between Bangor (from after Menai bridge) to Conwy which is very cycle-unfriendly.
It's been suggested I take the A5 through Snowdonia and then back up to Llandudno, but that would mean a 125km trip. I could do that in one day, the problem is I will have a rest day in Llandudno and then need to return the way I came. I'm not at all sure that I'm fit enough to do that.
Has anyone here cycled between Bangor and Conwy before? Is it likely to be a nightmare on that stretch, or is it do-able? Is it possible to wind one's way from one little town/village to the next, parallel to the A55 but avoiding it?
I'm not as familiar with these roads as might be thought from my address - I'm a South African, been living in Ireland for three years now.
Nadia.
