quick intro: why is it every other time I post is when my bike gets wrecked or I'm doing some new project. I feel cursed. oh well

so I decided to go buy a new bike insurance companies be damned or darned. I've pretty much decided on getting either surly steamroller or a bianchi pista. I'm heavily leaning towards the pista. Thing is I've started doing a lot of trail riding and I'm thinkin' of doing 700cx32-35 tires. Anyone got experience running these tires on a pista? I know the steamroller can hang, but can bianchi?

jeff

btw. the guys at surly prefer Shimano A550 brakes, but I can't find 'em anywhere. ???

I have both the pista and the steamroller. I think you can only go up to about a 28 on the pista. Not much clearance for fatties, as it is a true track frame... I would go with the Surly if you're gonna ride on dirt......also, the frame is quite a bit more robust than the pista....

As for brakes, most long reach calipers should be fine with fat tires.

thanks george.

Looks like I'm going surly. How'd you compare the pista vs. the steamroller?
a little background. I mostly ride chicago's level streets, but I do 30-40mi of trail(crushed limestone) riding on weekends. The goal is take my fixed on RAGBRAI next year. You've seen my old bike its just an old univega road frame. Any suggestions??
