Has anyone tried the Schwalbe Ice Spiker 2.1" studded tire (304 studs!)? MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-Op....a CDN shop) has them for $96CDN/tire. Weight is ~1015g/tire (verified on a digital scale). Available only in wire bead. Here's a pic:

Schwalbe has them listed for $84 US (~$110CDN).
They look surprisingly similar to the Nokian Hakka WXC300 (which are ~$95US/tire).

Weight on the Nokians is a svelte 695g/tire. Unfortunately, I've spoken with several WXC300 users who've had problems with loosing the studs from their tires. One indicated loosing 50+ studs from one tire! Ouch! Considering there are 300 studs, that's 1 in 6...not good, especially considering the price.
I was going to make my own set using a set of IRC Mythos 2.1" (580g front; 536g rear). Any idea what ~300 #8 3/8" sheet metal screws weigh? Also, I would need to line the tires with another tube....160g/tube. Just curious how close the two sets would be?
Also, the Schwalbes come with puncture protection.
