Touring - Post photos of your mountain climbs

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

When touring I love cycling through the mountains. Although it can be hard work the scenery is fantastic and descents just great fun.

What are your best photos of the passes you have climbed?

The Hai Van pass dividing North and South Vietnam.

Spurred on by the infamous Mr. Pumpy (http://www.mrpumpy.net/BSA-005.html), Amanda attacked the pass with a furious effort and was just 46:24 short of De Boer's record.

Way too many favorites to post them all, or even remember which are "best".

The lead shot for the FLT Gallery is one mountain shot that I'm always being asked about and often asked for permission to print.

Here's one that I haven't linked to in a long time:

Here are three shots of my north - south crossing of Gotthard Pass, Switzerland, 2004:

1. Bike rider, early morning, ascending the pass.

2. Ascending the pass.

3. Descending the pass. (There are 99 switchbacks, mainly cobblestone roads, and little in the way of guardrails.)

Ahh, yeah... St. Gotthard, I remember it well but I didn't count the twisties, here are the Stones (http://www.pbase.com/canyonlands/image/64673616) and the Cows (http://www.pbase.com/canyonlands/image/64673314). My main computer is still boxed up and in transit to our new home so I'm limited to what's already online...

Out of Europe and into the wild; ALASKA (http://www.pbase.com/canyonlands/image/96623478) and a climb you won't see a car on.

EDIT: Actually, you won't see many cars on *old* St. Gotthard either.

Er, maybe the pass beyond that volcano will have to wait for another time. :(

Ron, where is that Alaska one? Is that the Denali Hwy?

Four photos from the Gotthard Pass on 25 June 2007. Sunday traffic was hell; Monday was just wet.

Not quite Dave. You'll see an occasional car on the Denali, or at least we did. That photo was taken on the Denali National Park "Park Road". This is a road that bear are found on, on a regular basis, so you have to have your head wrapped around that possible road-block. The Denali Park Road is one of the few places that I know where you can land a shot like THIS (http://www.pbase.com/canyonlands/image/96623482/original) from a bicycle. We also rode past a Grizzly that was in pursuit of something. I snagged a series of images but they're packed up for the move.

Have fun planning your tour of Alaska Dave.

EDIT: On second thought, both are Alaska images and if you're talking about the one linked behind "ALASKA", that is on the Denali Hwy. You can see our partially complete tour journal HERE. (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/north) The linked image is from "Day 13".

Wow, this is turning into a great set of photos. Can't wait to get back out there amongst it.
Here is a couple more from me. This time in the Italian Dolomites.
The 2nd photo is of a landslide we encountered. There were signs 5km back up the the mountain saying the road was closed - but we figured we could get through on bikes.
