I posted something yesterday but wasn't all too clear as to what the problem was, so here's my second attempt. I got a new stem the other day, a Thomson if that matters, and I was trying to install it on my bike. First off let me say that when I was taking off the previous stem my whole fork came off my bike...as in I lifted my front wheel and the fork just slid out. I put everything back the way it was before it slipped out and noticed that their was a very small space in between the headset...well I can't really explain it. here's a picture

I followed all the directions that came with the Thomson stem and I noticed that the headset was too tight so I loosened it and loosened it and it was still too tight. I even took off the stem and headset cap and it's still "too tight" as in when I lift the front wheel off the ground it won't move and it'll stop moving if I tap the wheel left or right. please help
