Touring - Bow Valley Bike Tour [Surly Big Dummy]

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I loaded up my Surly Big Dummy (http://viksbigdummy.blogspot.com/) and hit the road with 2 friends this past weekend for some bike touring fun in the Canadian Rockies. If you'd like to read the tour report click here (http://viksbigdummy.blogspot.com/2008/05/bow-valley-bike-tour.html) and for my Flickr photos click here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikapproved/sets/72157605156694532/).

The Big Dummy performed well with a ridiculous load and I can see the appeal of touring on one for those trips that require you to haul a lot of supplies. I normally travel quite lightly so it was a revelation riding a bike that could easily carry more cargo than I was able to pedal uphill.
