Dude, I hope you can still get to all the rides you need to.
Plus, that car was cool.
Sad to see it go. It was always a good way to tell if one was "at the right place."
That said, it does have a younger sister...

I swear that one picture in the parking lot is the parking lot of Molly Stones over off Filmore.
Sorry about your ride Pete, but right now, having a car isn't such a good thing, especially with gas going beyond nutzo.

I swear that one picture in the parking lot is the parking lot of Molly Stones over off Filmore.-Safeway on Market, the Bee was #20 out of 99 they made and mine Taxi was # 63...collectors cars, but I was able to get blue book which I really needed
Sorry about your ride Pete, but right now, having a car isn't such a good thing, especially with gas going beyond nutzo- (don't get me started) It's very interesting that the Car companies are in bed with the Oil Industry trying to perpetuate fossil fuel dependence...ie $2.99 per gal if you buy a new car!!! Oil companies subsidizing the car industry while that f****...... never mind don't get me started I'm getting to the age I have to think about... the F word (Fixed Income)

Btw I'm getting new wheels on my Klein and riding in comfort for the L.A. ride... and new strings for a couple of my guitars.

I'm checking out the lbs's, had been thinking of high grade Eastons, but might get some custom built if I have time before the L.A. Ride.

Easton's are nice. They're kinda pricey for the lighter weight ones.
Here are some others to check out.
- Williams Cycling System30 - http://www.williamscycling.com/ - they're in Stockton :thumb:
- American Classic 420 - http://www.amclassic.com/420_blk.html
What about carbon wheels? Want comfort? Deep rim? Lightweight? Max budget?

I'm looking for wheels for Tricia too. Hoping to find a winner on eBay.
I'm looking at Williams System 19. I hear good things about the wheels and their service.
I'm also looking at American Classic 350s.
I have American Classic 420s. They are really light, and aero. But with the wind around here they get a bit weird when it blows hard.

I like the AC 420 rims, but I heard the hubs have issues.
I would have used the rims from the AC420 in my build if they were available for separate purchase.

Then again, you only have to put gas in it when you drive it :)
What I find interesting is how speculators bidding up the price of oil will accelerate research into alternative energies. It has always been too politically unpopular to raise fuel taxes enough to create the necessary incentives to cut back.. But it seems the speculators in the market are doing it for us. Nobody is less happy about it than the automakers, who are seeing new vehicle purchases go down, people shifting to lower-margin vehicles (not to mention used vehicles with fewer geegaws that add weight and hence decrease mileage), all while making investments in alternatives seem more worthwhile than they have ever been.
By the time the bottom drops out of the oil market and prices return to sane levels, the damage will have been done to the traditional automakers.

Im also considering Williams. They have been giving free nuetral wheel support at all the races lately. I like to support the local guys. About American Classic, bad reputation. Great rims, not so great hubs. If they sold rims by themselves they would out sell Mavic.

I am thinking of calling them, and saying I busted my rims and need replacements
Then rebuilding my wheels with them. ;)

American Classic did have a hub recall a couple of years ago. My understanding is that the newer hubs are just fine. I have lots of miles on mine with no issues.
I'm looking on eBay for American Classic 350s but keep not winning. If I can't get them there I'll go new Williams.

Sorry to spoil the party, but I checked out 5 local LBS's came very close to a red spoke, and some easton's but settled on a sweet deal at PacBike for some Mavic cosmic elites's. The newer version of what I have on my Trek. I've had such great luck with them and their bullet proof seeing how I like to run over everything on the road. With the money I saved on the deal, I may get glasses!:geek:
