Finally, snow! We are getting a good dose of the white stuff. And I have to say I've never been more excited about snow than I was today. OMG! It was such a rush riding to work, with about 3-4 inches of the white stuff over a slushy yuck crud that was starting to freeze. I can hardly wait to see what the ride home will be like with 2-3 more inches and snow still coming down (11:15p CST) I get off in an hour.
I didn't even get a chance to break in my Nokians, they recommend a 30 mile ride on bare pavement before depending on them, I think I got 5 miles of pavement out of the 23 I rode today. I also had to regear the fixie for this I'm riding 48x20. I was lucky to see a top speed of 14 mph. I don't know what the average for the ride to work was yet (I haven't looked yet). I was so stoked by the time I got to work, I was friggin' giddy as hell and high as and elephant's eye. I pulled up on one of my co-workers out smoking and let out a whoop that would have done any Souix proud. And I can't wait to get out there for the ride home. I even took pictures, so I'll post them when I get home.
The bike path was plowed for part of the commute, but it ended and became a nice ride for a couple miles in snow that reached my pedal down stroke, leaving interesting tracks in the snow. Of course this "acheivement" was also met with "You're an animal." "I thought about you while I was stuck in traffic, wondering if you would ride." "You're crazy." I was too psyched to care.
