Finally, snow! We are getting a good dose of the white stuff. And I have to say I've never been more excited about snow than I was today. OMG! It was such a rush riding to work, with about 3-4 inches of the white stuff over a slushy yuck crud that was starting to freeze. I can hardly wait to see what the ride home will be like with 2-3 more inches and snow still coming down (11:15p CST) I get off in an hour.

I didn't even get a chance to break in my Nokians, they recommend a 30 mile ride on bare pavement before depending on them, I think I got 5 miles of pavement out of the 23 I rode today. I also had to regear the fixie for this I'm riding 48x20. I was lucky to see a top speed of 14 mph. I don't know what the average for the ride to work was yet (I haven't looked yet). I was so stoked by the time I got to work, I was friggin' giddy as hell and high as and elephant's eye. I pulled up on one of my co-workers out smoking and let out a whoop that would have done any Souix proud. And I can't wait to get out there for the ride home. I even took pictures, so I'll post them when I get home.

The bike path was plowed for part of the commute, but it ended and became a nice ride for a couple miles in snow that reached my pedal down stroke, leaving interesting tracks in the snow. Of course this "acheivement" was also met with "You're an animal." "I thought about you while I was stuck in traffic, wondering if you would ride." "You're crazy." I was too psyched to care.

Commuting in winter is awesome, especially at night

Okay, I admit it, I didn't ride all the way from work. A co-worker offered me and my bike a lift to Minneapolis, and cut 13 miles off my trip. I still had 10 miles in the slop. I managed to find my way with the snow emergency routes that were open. I was also escorted by 5-0 for a couple blocks. I think they were wondering if I were high or not.

You know what the coolest part of the whole thing's been? The fact that when it snows like this and there's no one out there you feel like you are king of the city! It's just you and the road and the snow, the wind, and all you are watching is your wheel, as you don't think about anything just getting home safely, and then the last mile hits and then the last block, you can see home, and...

well... IT'S GOOD TO BE KING!!!

So how'd you become king, I didn't vote for you.

I would like to say "let it snow" etc etc. Unfortunately, it hasn't snowed here since the last ice-age, and probably not even then.

I actually can't wait for the snow either. I am so sick of the rain that it's getting on my last nerve. Wet, cold rain is more irritating to me than snow, even when I'm riding in a blizzard.

Finally, snow!
I'm proud to say that I have actually seen snow before. We actually had a couple of inches one year and I rode my bike in it. Its was virgin snow, too!

But I was afraid my skinny 28's would not be trustworthy. Still, it felt wonderful. A good thing, too, because I haven't seen any of it for quite a while...

LBM- Everything I've read on the AppalachianTrail, that starts or ends in GA says start in April and be ready for snow in GA. Are they lieing to me?:)

The pic is where the plowing on the bike trail ended.

You know, I don't want to put a damper on this. But I'm riding on 23s in Southern Ontario. The longer I can go without snow and reverting to the Kona and toe clips, the better.

If it snows, it snows... but if I was 5-0, and I am, I'd be guessing that you were high too. But it sounds like you'd be a blast to ride with. You've got a lotta energy.

BRING ON THE SUMMER AGAIN!!!
