This is going to be a logistical nightmare. There is only one road, and it's the race course.

How are Team cars and/or neutral support going to follow 180+ riders up the climb, leaving at 2 min intervals with no way down the mountain except back the way they came. Into on coming race traffic.

Seeing as the recent stage winners finish the climb in 37-39 minutes at the end of a long day, the winning time is going to be under 30 min. Utilizing the standard 25% time limit standards, pretty much everyone except the 20 best climbers would be eliminated.

Im sure they will do away with the 25% of the leaders time on that day, but how are they going to deal with the traffic problem?

Good question.....but having seen the Tour, which my dad and I refer to as the world's largest rolling advertisement, logistics do not seem to be an issue.

My guess is that they will probably do it in sections....maybe 20 riders go up, and there is a break, they come down. Then 20 more go up? Obviously, the team cars will have to be able to go back and forth to be with various riders.

They have all day, plus it does not get dark until about 11PM that time of year in Europe, so it's not like they are going to be rushed on time.

Knowing LeBlanc, he'll probably have a road built going down the other side.. ;)

Didn't someone mention something about there being another road down the mountain in another thread?

Well its not like they actually enforce it on normal days, anyway.

I guess there is. I think its a low quality, single lane road though.
