Quote: eRyderUSA would like to take this opportunity to introduce a very unique and innovative “Safety Light System” to you called the “SPARKY” . The “SPARKY” is not an LED type light, but rather a very new innovative patented “Xenon” type light, which has a myriad of possible “personal safety light” applications such as for leisure, bicycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, jogging, hiking, and various other sport applications, as well as for R.V., Automotive and Personal Caution/Emergency type applications.

Sounds like a competitor to the Lightman Strobe.
The official website is here http://www.eryderusa.com/SP_main.htm

Anyone know anything about it?

Xenon is old technology-not new as the ad says. Fact is the LED systems are far brighter than the Xenon was and that's why most tailights now use LED's. My first Cateye taillight was Xenon-bright for it's time sure, but now is not anywhere near as bright as Cateye's 5 LED taillight. And why would one need the yellow and blue lights?

Yep, that is my finding with those 2 AA battery powered strobes too. A good multiple LED light can be just as bright (if not much brighter). Not to mention the LED's much lower power consumption, different flashpatterns and no fragile components to break.

However, I'm still interested in those Sparky strobes. You might never know. :) The lenses btw are available in different colors. I believe red/white/yellow is for regular bicyclists and skaters and blue is ment for police and such.

Anyone know about these?

The strobe flash duration is much shorter than the LED, which is bad for distance perception.

Blue flashes are for police only in California. The rest is OK. Xenon flash in this thread may be an incandescent light with zenon gas in the bulb. A Xenon arc-discharge type flash as seen on emergency and police vehicles is a whole different thing. I use one and friends won't let me lead nighttime group rides. My rear "Xenon" strobe is painfully bright.

Where do you buy one of these? How much?

Xenon is brighter then most LEDS but it depends on the color. in white or amber it is brigther plus it actualy lights things up. I see it reflected off of signs off to the sides. it has a far wider view range too.
so they are good for side lighting and visibility (moving to a white xenon over a good white LED caused almost all drivers to stop compared to some not stopping with the LED)
the downside is runtime. the sparky is not bad about 10 hours on good cells. the sparky does not have a 90 degree view area but it is still far more then a LED. I have one and it works well. the mount is nothing fantastic though.
