I have a 1988 Fuji Mt. Fuji Mountain Bike frame; TRIPLE butted Chro-Molly, fully lugged & brazed. Seat and head tube angles are both 73 degrees, according to Fuji. The frame is about an inch or so too big for me, and I would like to have the top tube lowered at least an inch, if not two.
Since the seat and head tubes are both 73 degrees, would it just be a matter of removing the top tube from the seat tube and head tube, shortening them both one or 2 inches, and replace the top tube, since the angels involved and the distance between the seat and head tubes would not change?
I like the brazed lugged frame, and NO ONE except maybe a custom frame maker produces a lugged steel mountain bike frame any more. I cannot afford to buy a new custom made frame, but might be able to afford to have my frame modified.
