Fifty Plus (50+) - Hello?

Ok, I am 53 :50: so I guess I can post in this area.
I ride alone
I ride anything from a saved from the dump left on the road side after hurricane (insert your favorite) by some camp ground Huffy "Beach Cruiser", obsolete mountain bikes, no one heard of brand of folder, Sears Tote Cycle, a Ross "PROFESSIONAL" road bike (complete with the original 5 speed freewheel and 27 inch steel rims) to a Miami Sun Trike
I do not ride fast
I do not ride to far (what's the big deal about a "century"? 100 miles ain't that far ... just a nice short ride in the FL Keys :D)
I do not own any bike that costs as much or more than a junk used car.
My annual mileage has dropped from 10,000 to around 1,000, no time to ride these days.

Welcome. I'm pretty much a newbie around here too, but I think you've found a nice corner of a great forum site. Most of the folks here seem pretty mellow, perhaps that is part of the 50+ thing, and very helpful. Nothing wrong with riding alone, I do too. I get into a sort of Zen like state that is very pleasant. And if you're happy with your bike... you're happy with your bike! (Do yourself a favor, don't go test riding bikes that cost more than junk cars; that will help preserve your state of happiness. :-))

Welcome! I, as well am new here. Being 52, riding with my Lady on occasion, riding 4-5 miles a day, and enjoying my newly purchased Schwinn alloy cruiser I can relate to most of your post. My only "issue" is numbness "down there" and I suspect its just getting used to riding again. (any suggestions are very welcome)

Camera and some of the bikes and the Trike are in Florida. Some of the bikes are in Nevada (in storage) and the rest of the bikes are, like me, in Idaho. I'll post some pictures as I can. I think I am going to be heading to Florida in a couple months, and maybe over to Nevada in a couple weeks.

My job involves a lot of traveling, so I have some bicycles everywhere the job sends me, just in case I ever get time to ride there.

There are some advantages to riding by yourself. When you hit the wall on a hill or can’t push the cog any more you can downshift and take your time.

Social rides can be just as nice as long as they remain social rides. Many club rides become anything but social. I have found that some of my best social rides have been when two lone riders just happen to meet on an empty road going in the same direction and a coffee shop happens to be just where you both decide is the half way point of your ride. But that could be just me.
