I was wondering if this was a good bike to get for $450. My local bike shop has it on clearance and it seems like a nice bike for the price. I will be riding trails and a little bit on the road.
I plan on riding about 20-30 miles every week and will be doing some minor uphill riding.(If you live in California I will be riding up Mt. Soledad every once in awhile)
--thanks for the help!--

At $450, I would jump on that in a heart beat!!! I pick mine up next week for $599 --- and yes, it is a very good bike for the money.
i picked up an 02 iguana disc for 300, it doesn't quite compare with my buddy's Merlin SL frame, but goddamn if it aint one of the best for the values bikes I've got (second only to my free fixed-gear)

My daughter has been riding a Giant Iguana for several years. The bike has been great in all conditions and problem free.
Giant Iguana's are definately not good, they
wreak havoc in almost every 1960's
dinosaur/time travel/bad Sci Fi movie ever made.
especially watch out for the giant Iguana with the
sail fin glued to its back, its really nasty (you'd be
too if you had a sailfin glued to your back).

This has to be one of the most narrow-minded, prejudicial, stereotypical statements I have ever read. How do you know there are not good Giant Iguanas out there? Have you even looked? Have you ever tried to have a conversation with a Giant Iguana? Maybe invite one over to the house, or chat one up at the local watering-hole? These are the type of attitudes that lead to soooo many of our global ills.

thanks for the help everyone! I have decided to go ahead and get the bike, the reason its $450 is because Performance bike is having a christmas clearance sale and some things are almost 50% off.
